Pukalani Superette’s Pink Party II

Filed under: Uncategorized — bonnie @ 10:40 am

(with our thanks to Linn Nishikawa for her always great work!)

Lani Correa - MMMC Foundation & Cathy Nobriga Kim - Roselani Tropics Ice Cream with Pukalani Superette staff Lacey Apo, Iolani Antonio, Gerry Masaki (General Manager) & Tracey Stokaylo

MMMC Foundation’s breast cancer program got a HUGE boost thanks to Pukalani Superette’s Pink Party promotion which raised an impressive yet very heart-warming $5,500.   In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this fundraising kick-off held on Saturday, Oct. 16, drew many of their customers who spun the KPOA Wheel for prizes, sampled Seabury Hall’s award-winning Aloha Cherry Truffle “Sushi Sensation” (an event which raised over $550 during the Maui County Fair), and left with educational information about the early detection and prevention of breast cancer.  Mahalo to the owners and staff of Pukalani Superette, Cathy Nobriga Kim and Roselani Tropics Ice Cream, Seabury Hall students – Dominic Mills, Chae Matayoshi, Tyler Yamada & Jared Shimada, and Pacific Radio Group for supporting MMMC Foundation “because life is precious.”

Party in Pink

Filed under: Uncategorized — bonnie @ 8:56 am

It was a virtual SEA of pink at the Pukalani Superette this past Saturday (10/16/10) from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The “Party in Pink” was – and still is! – a joint effort among the Superette, Maui’s Own Roselani Ice Cream, KPOA radio, and the Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation. Almost $2000 was raised just this past weekend alone – all of it going to promote breast cancer awareness and education and to help the uninsured and underinsured women of Maui County to be able to get mammograms.   (scroll down for pictures)

On Saturday, many dozens of the Superette customers donated money, got to spin the KPOA prize wheel, picked up lots of great information about the hospital foundation and its breast cancer education and awareness campaign, and also got to taste Seabury Hall’s winning dessert from the 2nd Annual Roselani Aloha Cherry Truffle Challenge which took place at the Maui County Fair a couple of weeks ago. The flavor was created by Roselani Ice Cream maker Cathy Nobriga Kim – a breast cancer survivor, herself – as part of this ongoing campaign. It was introduced to commemorate Roselani’s 75th anniversary in 2007.

You can continue to donate to this worthy cause at the Pukalani Superette through Saturday, October 23rd. Please. Help us meet our $5,000 goal.
